  1. In the name of god amen this fifteenth day of January
  2. (1676) Acordingto the computation ofthe Church of Inglan<d>
  3. I Will(iam) Richardsonof Sutterby in the County of Lincol(n)
  4. Husbanman being of perfecte memory and
  5. Remembrance prased be god do make & [3]
  6. This my last will & testament inmaner &
  7. fforme following
  8. ffirst I bequeath my souleinto the handes of
  9. Almity god my maker hoping th(a)t through the
  10. meritorius death & passion of Jesus Christ
  11. my only savor & redeemor to receave free
  12. pardon formy sines & as formy body tobe
  13. Buried in cristian buriall atthe discression
  14. of my Execu(tor) hearafter mentioned

Translation

  3. I William Richardson of Sutterby in the County of Lincoln
  4. Husbandman being of perfect memory and
  5. remembrance praised be God do make & [3]
  6. this my last will & testament in manner &
  7. form following
  8. First I bequeath my soul into the hands of
  9. Almighty God my maker hoping that through the
  10. meritorious death & passion of Jesus Christ
  11. my only Saviour & Redeemer to receive free
  12. pardon for my sins & as for my body to be
  13. buried in Christian burial at the discretion
  14. of my Executor hereafter mentioned

 

  1. Firstly I give unto my daughter Ann Richardson Ten pounds to be
  2. paid at the age of eighteen years
  3. Item I give unto my daughter Mary Richardson ten pounds to be paid
  4. at the age of eighteen years & if these my children either of
  5. them die the ten pounds to go to the other to be paid as aforesaid
  6. & if both die [2] my son Harwood
