Classical Transcription
- In the Name of God Amen. I John Wells
- of Sutterby in the County of Lincoln Husband:
- :man being weak in Body but of perfect
- mind & Memory praised be God for it do make
- & Ordain th(is) my last will & Testam(en)t in manner
- & form following. That is to say 1st & princi:
- :pally I Bequeath my Soul to God who gave it
- hopeing to be Sav(e)d thro(ugh) the Merits of X(hrist) Jesus my
- Sav(iou)r my Body to the ground to be buried at
- the discretion of my Executrix hereafter Nam(e)d
- Impr(imis) I give & Bequeath to my Son Tho: Wells
- five pounds to be p(ai)d w(i)th in 12 months after my
- Decease.
- Item I give & bequeath to my 4 grand children
- John Smith. Ann Smith Margret Smith. & Rachell
- Smith 5 pounds apeice to be p(ai)d w(i)thin 2 Years
- after my Decease
- Item the Rest of my goods & chattells I give &
- bequeath to my Daughter Ann Smith whom I
- Nominate & appoint whole & Sole Executrix of
- th(i)s my Last will & Testam(en)t And lastly I do
- revoke & renounce all oth(e)r will or wills by
23 me formerly made & declare th(i)s to be my last
- Will & Testam(en)t Signed Sealed & declared
- th(i)s last day of October in the Year of our Lord

Translation
- In the name of God amen. I John Wells
- of Sutterby in the County of Lincoln husband-
- -man being weak in body but of perfect
- mind & memory praised be God for it do make
- & ordain this my last will & testament in manner
- & form following. That is to say 1st & princi-
- -pally I bequeath my soul to God who gave it
- hoping to be saved through the merits of Christ Jesus my
- Saviour my body to the ground to be buried at
- the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named
- Firstly I give & bequeath to my son Tho: Wells
- five pounds to be paid within 12 months after my
- decease.
- Item I give & bequeath to my 4 grandchildren
- John Smith Ann Smith Margret Smith & Rachell
- Smith 5 pounds apiece to be paid within 2 years
- after my decease
- Item the rest of my goods & chattells I give &
- bequeath to my daughter Ann Smith whom I
