Will, William Martin of Sutterby 20th May, 1729

Classical Transcription

 

  1. In the Name of God Amen. I William Martin
  2. of Sutterby in the County of Lincoln being week
  3. in Body but of perfect mind & memory God be
  4. praised for it do make & ordain t(hi)s my last
  5. will &Testam(en)t in manner & Form following
  6. That is to say first & principally I bequeath my
  7. Soul to God hopeing to be sav(e)d thro(ugh) the meritts of
  8. Jesus X(hrist) my Sav(iou)r my Body to the ground to be de
  9. =cently buried at the discretion of my Executor here
  10. =after nam(e)d. And for the small p(ar)t of wordly Goods
  11. w(hi)ch God was pleasd to lend me I give & bequeath
  12. as follows.
  13. Imp(rimi)s I give & bequeath to my Sister Frances Martin
  14. twenty pounds. To my Brother Richard Martin
  15. five pounds. To my Servant Mary Cooke two pound
  16. Ten shillings & to my Servant Rob(er)t Fisher two
  17. pound ten shillings. And as for the rest of my
  18. worldly goods I give & bequeath to my Brother
  19. Robert Martin whom I name & appoint whole
  20. & Sole Executor of th(i)s my last Will & Testam(en)t

Translation

  2. of Sutterby in the County of Lincoln being weak
  3. in body but of perfect mind & memory God be
  4. praised for it do make & ordain this my last
  5. Will & Testament in manner & form following
  6. That is to say first & principally I bequeath my
  7. Soul to God hoping to be saved through the merits of
  8. Jesus Christ my Saviour my body to the ground to be de-
  9. -cently buried at the discretion of my Executor here-
  10. -after named. And for the small part of wordly goods
  11. which God was pleasd to lend me I give & bequeath
  12. as follows.
  13. Firstly I give & bequeath to my sister Frances Martin
  14. twenty pounds. To my brother Richard Martin
  15. five pounds. To my servant Mary Cooke two pound
  16. ten shillings & to my servant Robert Fisher two
  17. pound ten shillings. And as for the rest of my
  18. worldly goods I give & bequeath to my Brother
