On Friday evening the 7th of August 2026 we held an Evening of Lincolnshire Folk Songs and Tunes at the Old Church, Great Steeping, followed by a gathering at Old Church Farm, at the kind invitation of Chris and Mike Morgan.
At this point we would normally enjoy the now traditional Bonfire Supper. This year owing to the very dry weather the bonfire was replaced with a “nonfire” (an artistic bundle of firewood lit by red LED lights) but we still had our supper of baked potato, coleslaw and cheese, followed by a selection of desserts, many thanks to Chris and Mike Morgan who always do us proud.
The evening started at the Old Church with Kate Witney and Liam Robinson giving excellent concert of Lincolnshire Folk Songs and some of their history. (there is a recording of this) We then moved to the farm where we ate our supper followed by more songs.
As Denise has a Birthday next week, we took the opportunity to present her with a cake from the Artisan Bakery of Firsby.
