Underwater Archaeology – Gary the Diver

On the 11th June 2024 Gary Bankhead (Gary the Diver) gave us a talk entitled Dive into Durham. Unfortunately, I along with several members of the horde were unable to attend due to pre-booked holidays/work commitments. It was reported by those who were there that the talk was excellent and very well received by all. The talk was videoed and is available to members of the group by contacting Denise.

Gary, who is an underwater archaeologist, has dived extensively in the River Wear at Durham and has emerged with a fascinating collection of artefacts. As some of you may know, Gary was featured recently in an episode of Digging for Britain. The Artisan Baker of Firsby as promised supplied a mud and weed confection in celebration of this event.

Thank you for your talk, Gary and we hope you will keep us updated on your exploits.
