Yesterday Tuesday 11th February 2025 was the first Sandwich Filler Talk of this year. Dr Alan Pethybridge introduced us to The Wonderful World of Misericords, as held by St Botolph’s church, Boston, Lincoln Cathedral and others.
Firstly, he told us what misericords were and why they came about. Then, he explained the many decorations carved on them and showed us a very large collection of photographs of misericords he had put together, some of which I enclose as screen prints from the talk.
Alan gave an entertaining talk, which we all enjoyed listening to, on what was a little-known subject.
